Benevolence Fund is "Significant" to First Class Community Strategy
Three years ago First Class Lawn & Landscape began a unique program that has generated over $60,000 in employee and company matched contributions. In early 2007, First Class began accepting weekly payroll deductions ranging from $1.00 to $5.00 that have been matched by the company dollar-for-dollar since that time. In total, First Class has granted over $50,000 for community and employee needs.
"This program has indeed amazed me with the level of support from our employees," stated Brad Shaffer, First Class Owner and president. "We have consistently seen nearly 80% of our First Class team memebers involved in this program. However, it's really more exciting to see how we have positively impacted the lives of our employees that are in need through the Benevolence Fund. It's truly a great thing!" added Shaffer.
The Benevolence Fund is guided by an in-house committee called the "Significance Council." This group of six diverse employees reviews requests and is responsible for the stewardship of the fund. Furthermore, First Class has partnered with the People Helping People Network to provide financial accountability and management. Ten Year Service Award Recipients
At First Class Landscaping, we value those employees who show loyalty and commitment to our team. In recognition for extended service, any emplyee who reaches their 10th year of employement with First Class is given special acknowledgement. Recently at an all-staff meeting, Rubio Cuellar, Arturo Garcia, and James Young were called to the front of the group. Standing before their peers, they were unsure of what was going on, until Brad Shaffer presented them with a plaque for their ten years of service. Co-workers who have had a close contact with these 2 employees greeted them one-by-one with a smile and a handshake filled with cash. All ten-year service award recipients receive a cash award, along with a plaque to take home and one to hang in our front office. Imagine the pride they must feel to see their face hanging above the window where paychecks are issued each Friday. Its just one way the team here at First Class Landscaping can say "Thank you" and/or "Gracias" to our most dedicated and loyal employees.
